Spent 4 hours face painting at the Galway Bay Half Marathon 2011 on Saturday. Last year I was able to park right next to the race marquee at Nimos Pier. This year I was lucky to get parking by the church. That’s as close I could get.
Inside and out side the marquee was a hive of activity. Runners warming up, physiotherapist setting up and kids coming along to cheer their mums and dads all in aid of a good cause – Cancer Care West.
Painted loads of kids but one of the best was one of the runners who wanted to be painted as a pirate, complete with a stitched up scar!
Well done to everyone who took part. I definitely felt unfit sitting there on my little stool.
Who knows, next year I may be running intead of face painting.
